Tecma Associates, Inc. is serving as the prime consultant providing Phase III Construction Engineering Services for this $25 million IDOT project in the City of Chicago. The project involves the removal and replacement of the Foster Avenue bridge over I-90 and the CTA Blue Line to improve vertical clearance and modernize the corridor's transportation infrastructure.
Key project components include the construction of a new center pier aligned with the westbound I-90 median barrier wall, full roadway reconstruction and resurfacing, and the installation of ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps. The project also features intersection channelization, modernization of traffic signals at the I-90 westbound exit and entrance ramps, underpass and roadway lighting, and extensive drainage improvements along Foster Avenue and the I-90 corridor.
Tecma’s responsibilities also include oversight of retaining wall repairs, pavement markings, and all associated incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the improvement.
Successful delivery of the project requires close coordination with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), City of Chicago Departments of Transportation and Underground, and effective integration with ongoing I-90/94 construction to manage lane closures and ensure uninterrupted access for both vehicular and transit traffic.
